Learning How To Make Money Blogging

"How to make money blogging seemed to be easier than what actually happened." --Chaplain Paul Slater

Make Money Blogging Seemed Like A Great Idea

How to make money blogging was my quest, especially needing to make money so I could pay for our new San Diego house, purchased in April of 2005. We learned later that 2005 was the worst time to buy Southern California real estate.

That is why I was eager to know how to make money blogging. I figured that I could make money blogging so we could pay for the new house we had purchased in San Diego. Eventually that need would amount to nearly $5000 per month, an amount my blogging endeavors did not reach.

Written Before Experiencing Blogging Burnout

The title of this webpage, 200506, means it was originally written in June 2005. That means these blog entries were written before I experienced blogging burnout.

How to make money blogging was a key concern, what with our foolish real estate purchase that eventually lead to house payments close to $5000 per month.

Article Prompts Change In Blogging Strategy

Wanting still to show how to make money blogging, I have begun a new blogging strategy after reading Blog or Build It.

Starting a new strategy to make money blogging with this Career Focused Website, I wanted a blogging approach that would give me peace of mind, instead of being hounded by the calendar to write yet another new blog posting.

For example, this page entitled 200506 is now rewritten so that I do not have a dated blog entry for June 2005. It is now a page that will be found because of understanding the blogging information at Blogging Explained From A Different Perspective.

A New Career Focused RSS Feed Changed

Therefore Change Career With Purpose News will have a different "RSS home" for its RSS feed. Becoming more of a Career Focused Web Journal Blog, letting readers know whenever about new or changed Web pages appearing on the Change-Career-With-Purpose.com website.

New Career Change Blog Feed

If you subscribe to my previous blog newsletter, you will need to delete the old RSS URL address and replace with my new one, by doing the following...

Right-click (control-click for Mac users) on the orange button below.

Then...

Select Copy Shortcut ("Copy Link to Clipboard" for Mac), and paste that URL into your RSS Reader.

And that's it! You're subscribed to my new blog featuring career change ideas using the keyword careers.

Blogging Entries Too Good To Waste

There were some great career focused articles for June 2005 that I wanted to repurpose as new web pages, valuable original articles focusing on career change ideas. Thus 200506 is simply a blogging memory of the past, while life moves on for all of us.

06-02-2005 Blogging Burnout and Fatigue: From expending energy or from a lack of results? I was just a month into blogging and was already feeling the pressure bloggers experience, hoping to make money online through their blogging efforts by writing career themed articles.

06-05-2005 Thoughts On Pastor Burnout and Pastor Appreciation I chose quite a title for this article when I first wrote it: Those Wanting To Express Appreciation To Their Pastor Do Not Have A Clue That He Or She Is Ready To Throw In The Towel. I wrote this in response to hearing of all the pastors who "leave the ministry".

06-08-2005 A Church that Produces Entrepreneurs, for Christ's Sake!

An article on a church that was producing spiritual entrepreneurs, I wrote about how each family in this small church was challenged to develop a business, moving from lower income situations to successful entrepreneurships.

I have long believed that this is what a church is -- people, forgiven fallen folk, enabling dreams to be fulfilled in each other , most of whom have a strike or two against them. Sounds like "redemption" in more than one way.

06-12-2005 Reporting In As A Professional Chaplain

An article sharing some of the requirements for chaplaincy I need to fulfill to keep my chaplain certification up to date. As a professional chaplain, I am required to be endorsed by a faith group and for me, that is the Church of the Nazarene. (Our geographical regions of ministry are called districts and San Diego is in the Southern California District of the Church of the Nazarene.)

Of course, in all my blogging to make money efforts, I would encourage readers to take action to begin their own online business endeavor. Wanting to let others know how to make money on the internet, I would say something like this:

06-14-2005 Blogging With Purpose: What In The World Is Blogging for God's Sake?

This page shares my goal in blogging with purpose. Readers want blogging explained, especially Christian blogging. Their request? Blogging defined in simple terms.

06-17-2005 Career Change Options For Those Forced OutOn one of my web pages, I make reference to "forced out military friends"

06-18-2005 Timing Of A Career Change

This article focused on career changes taken by both of our children, who at that time were both entering what is called the 30 something age.

Regarding the timing of a career change I had made reference to the question as to when to quit a job. My answer was when it becomes unbearable for some reason.

06-18-2005 A Tribute To My Father, Leonard Maxwell Slater

Written as a Father's Day Blog, after I found a tribute to my father. I wanted to honor him by putting that special tribute on my website.

I was prolific in my blogging efforts the month of June 2006. Of course blogging to make money may seem crass to some, but remember we had just purchased a home for over a half million dollars.

There were three more career focused blogs that month that will become web pages on one of my ministry focused websites:

  • 06-22-2005 A Chaplain's Idea of Vacation
  • 06-28-2005 A Working Vacation But Fun Just the Same
  • 06-30-2005 World Wide Website Ministry

Did I learn how to make money blogging? Yes, but not as much as I wanted to make from my blogging monetization efforts.

Do I plan to make money blogging in the future? Sure, but not with the traditional blogging strategy that wants me to be original in creating new blog entries every few days. No wonder I experienced blogging burnout.
