07-08-2006 - Vacation Involves Airline Travel, A Car Rental, and A Family Reunion. . .

Our family vacation took us to the Northwest. We flew Southwest Airlines for the simple reason we earn lots of Rapid Rewards through our American Express Gold Business Card, which can be transferred to Southwest Airlines Rapid Reward Program. We rented a car through Expedia Travel after flying into Boise, Idaho. The car we rented for the week was a Pontiac, and while a decent driving car, helped us decide not to buy one for ourselves. We stayed the night at the Hampton Inn in Nampa, Idaho and then drove to Joseph, Oregon where the family reunion was held at the Flying Arrow Resort near Wallowa Lake. Here are some details about Joseph, Oregon:
  • Elevation: 4,150 ft.
  • Population: 1,054
  • Location: N.E. Oregon, approx. 72 miles northeast of La Grande off I-84
  • Area Key Attractions:
  • Wallowa Lake State Park
  • Wallowa-Whitman National Forest
  • Eagle Cap Wilderness Area
  • Old Chief Joseph Monument
  • Gateway to Hells Canyon Recreation Area
The best part of the trip was being with family and celebrating our spiritual heritage. The worst part of the vacation was catching a summer cold, which revealed to me once again why babies cry as airplanes are landing (ears hurt). Onward with purpose, Chaplain Paul L. 10-08-2006 - Back To School Theme A Reality For Teachers Too. . .

My wife is an educator big time. A veteran of 25 Back To School Seasons as a teacher, nearly 30 as a mother of our kids who attended school from preschool through college. She has experienced a lot of Back to School Sales throughout that time. But now in her role as Preschool Director of a university laboratory preschool, back to school means gearing up for both incoming college students as well as preparing for preschoolers to begin their educational journey. While on vacation last week she asked me, Can you believe that Back To School Time is right around the corner? Like now. I continued the conversation by asking When do the students show up? On my birthday, August 21. I noted the birthday reference. We have been married 38 years and I have remembered her birthday 37 times. Hey, it is not wise for husbands to forget birthdays, but if you have to forget a birthday, do it the first one of marriage. You will be reminded thereafter that a birthday is coming up. Now back to our Back To School theme -- Yes, I can believe that Back to School is right around the corner. So can businesses that cater to families of school children. 16-08-2006 - I Wonder If Cosmetic Sale Sites at Ebay have Increased. . .

Seems to me that a beauty consultant business could be a very lucrative home based cosmetic business to be in right now. My wife works in what is called higher education. That word higher could refer to just about anything. Does higher mean the higher cost of education? And if there is higher education, is there a type of education that would be labeled as lower? Anyway, back to the banquet table . . . we were attending the annual back to school dinner the university she is employed by sponsors to rally the teaching troops for the new year. As we talked to people at our table, several had travel stories to share. Our cardiologist friend started sharing about their airport adventures last week when there was a crackdown on taking anything liquid on airline flights. They had flown from San Diego to Chicago right after the terrorist plot was discovered last week. They described all of the discarded cosmetics people had to part with before being allowed to get on the airplane. Perfume bottles, hair care products, lip gloss, mouthwash, even toothpaste were included. They even wanted my roll-on deodorant in their cache of potential bomb building ingredients we assume were to be confiscated. But the question that began to emerge at out table was this: "has anyone checked out Ebay to see if there are new sites selling slightly used perfumes and other beauty supply products. I mean, do you think they actually threw all those cosmetics out?" I will communicate to my daughter that this is a great time to crank up her beauty consultant business. She is a Mary Kay Beauty Products Consultant and the market is hot for selling cosmetics and personal care products. That is unless people have already discovered those Ebay beauty product websites. Onward and upward, Chaplain Paul L. Slater
Might be a great time for someone with a beauty consulant business to launch their own website at Sell Products Online With Your Own Website

23-08-2006 - My Website Is My Christian Home Based Business. . .

Back To Internet Website Drawing Board

For sometime I have felt I needed to redesign my faith-focused website which is also a home based business strategy for me. In these times of financial pressures, especially trying to survive San Diego financially, I created a website for financial reasons and to share my passion for ministry careers. You can check out how I am doing this by going to build ministry focused websites located at http://www.change-career-with-purpose.com/build-ministry-focused-websites.

Redesigning My Christian Home Based Business Website

I of course must develop a strategy that reorganizes my website for optimum website experience for my website visitors. I usually have between 200 to 300 visitors per day and I know that the chaotic website structure needs to be improved. So I am rereading the website design instructions over again.
