Ways to Encourage Your Pastor

"Chaplain Paul I found your website www.pastor-appreciation.net when I was doing a website search." Julie then told us how she had done a keyword search using Google and when she found my new pastor appreciation focused website near the top of the list. She felt she had to explain even more as she continued in what amounted to a free website advertisement: "I was looking for ways to encourage our pastor and had typed in the keyword search phrase words of encouragement for the pastor and I realized you had a website focusing on pastor appreciation." I was leading a midweek small group for our pastor because he had other commitments -- a church building committee meeting. In the course of our Bible study I shared that I had a passion for churches expressing pastor appreciation. Julie's search accomplished several things that evening:

• I was encouraged that people were finding my pastor appreciation website
• Our small group focused on praying for our pastor and his family

10-09-2006 - Reflecting on 9/11, A Day Of Mourning, And Also My Birthday . . .

Can I Celebrate On 9/11?

Well, September 11 is my birthday. Yes, it is true, I turn 60 on 9/11. Last year I wrote these words regarding having a birthday on a day of national mourning. I repeat some those words here: Today is my birthday -- on 9/11. For most people, September 11 is a sad day, a day of mourning. For me, while I grieve what took place on September 11, 2001, please understand that 9/11 has always been a day of celebration because it is my birthday. After all, it was a day of happiness and celebration for 55 of my years before that fateful September 11 Twin Towers attack. Now, just saying the date -- 9/11 --elicits feelings of sorrow and grief.

• 9/11, from the perspective of a national tragedy, causes many to grieve deeply over personal losses.
• 9/11 is forever stamped upon our hearts and minds as a day of tremendous loss and deep grief as we reflect upon the evil done to our fellow countrymen by those whose reason for existence is to destroy life.
• Yet 9/11 for many who share that day as a birthday or anniversary, we also celebrate, even when others have no reason to celebrate.

Home Mortgage Refinance Time

How can I tell it is time to refinance my home mortgage?

• My home mortage has been sold again, the third time in just over a year.
• Mortgage refinance offers are arriving at the rate of 6 or 7 each week. The phone calls are down to 3 or 4 a week. Now I am kinda lonely since all my mortgage refinance friends have moved on to new victims of their refinance now attention.
• Some are saying that San Diego real estate is going into a nose dive.

I Should Learn More about Refinancing Home Mortgages

A friend of mine has just become an independent home loan mortgage broker. Not out of choice mind you. He was given a choice when his former employer decided to move their home loan mortgage operations to Seattle. They offered him a job but he did not want to relocate from San Diego. So he has established his own home loan brokerage and will work out of his home as a home based mortgage business.

Knowing Home Mortgage Refinancing Things

As we talked recently, I decided he knew the home mortgage refinance game. He knows what I need to know about home loan mortgages -- refinancing home mortgages, what the best home mortgages are. He said that ignorance about home mortgages has really caused people to do make some pretty dumb refinancing moves. (I noticed that a common search engine entry is knowing home mortgage refinancing things.) Releasing The Writer Within

Writing is something we do most of our lives. We write checks, we write letters, we write email. I once was told that each of us is writing an autobiography of that which is most important in our lives -- our checkbook register!
