| 04-11-2006 - New 2007 Car Season And Chaplain Career Opportunities -

New car model announcement prompts automobile dealership memory
The above announcement was awaiting me in my email inbox this morning. How exciting -- the 2007 Car Model Season has arrived.
Now if you are still paying for a 2002 model car and a 2004 model like I am, I will probably sit this one out. But if you are in the market for buying a new car, it is open season on the 2007 new car model.
Yes but what about my automobile dealership announcement above? Actually, the new car model announcement reminded me that there are wonderful auto industry career opportunities that I would consider purpose driven careers.
Of course, the purpose has to be defined to qualify for my values driven concept of what it means to be purpose driven. But let's take the principle high road in this case and assume one works in the auto sales industry with the best motives and the highest values.
What I was reminded of by the new car season advertisement is that even car dealerships have chaplains. Well at least one car dealership has hired a workplace chaplain and I would imagine there are more.
You see, my friend Mike is an auto dealership chaplain, an example of how business and industrial chaplaincy opportunities exist today.
So if an 2007 car model ad doesn't prompt you to buy the latest car model, perhaps it will challenge you check out chaplain career opportunities in a car dealership near you.
Of course, you can always become a car salesman because there is always a need for one more honest purpose driven car sales person.
Onward with purpose,
Chaplain Paul Slater

08-11-2006 - Mortgage Concerns I Have
Meeting With A Mortgage Broker
I met with a mortgage broker friend last Saturday to go over some mortgage finance options. His career change journey has taken him on a new home loan specialist direction -- being self employed as a home loan consultant.
Basically, what I wanted to know is whether we should refinance now or wait. I guess that is always a question asked by home owners wondering about refinancing their home loans.
After all was said and done, well at least said, he recommended I hold off refinancing for now. To be honest, I liked his conservative home refinance approach rather than someone pushing a home refinance loan package on me just because our present home loan payment is higher than we want it to be.
Believing Those Mortgage Refinance Offers
What about all those mortgage refinance offers I get in the mail that say they will cut my payments in half?
Ken then took me through a refinance 101 course showing me that the payments are low for now but the amount you should be paying - but aren't for now - are added onto the back end of the mortgage.
In other words, you would be a fool to get yourself into that kind of a trap with some of these too good to be true homeowner mortgage offers. He did not say those words but I can take a hint.
Yes, I liked his approach to home refinance. He did not try to sell me into a low payment house mortgage just to relieve the temporary financial pressure we are experiencing.
Can You Help Me Get Online With A Homeowner Mortgage Website?
Besides, he was very interested in having an information based website to share his passion for wise refinance principles.
Hey, wouldn't that be a unique financial twist if he let me help him get online with a homeowner mortgage website that would help me make the payments on a new home refinance mortgage.
First Time Home Owner Mortgage Specialist
When I discovered specializes in first time home owner mortgages I told our daughter.
Last time she looked at purchasing a new condo in San Diego, people claiming to specialize in getting her a first time home owner mortgage soon were pushing those low payment mortgages that added huge amounts to the backend of a mortgage.
Onward and upward,
Chaplain Paul Slater
Ken, this is the website info I was telling you about: It Is For Those Selling a Service... or Could Be! I actually think that a mortgage website built on this concept will do far more to reach your potential mortgage customers.

09-11-2006 - Typos and the need for editing spark Editing Solution Business Idea
Another Typo For The World To See.
Good night, how did that typing mistake happen? is a question I often asked of myself. Of course thier is no good anser as to the why or how tiping erors happened.
Yet thare it was for all the world to sea:
Change careers, using the keyword careers as your change career directon, explore careers with purpose. November 2006
Does Your Typing Produce Embarrassing Typos?
I even seen major produck launches with typing misteaks that cauze me to queston the originater's abilaty to prodoose a good sofware progam or writ an book.
I resently notised a typo in one of my site bloggs that prompted a solution focused idea -- An editing service.
Poor Spelling And Webpage Typos Initiate Editing Solution Company
Of course I found that someone had already thought of such a need based company -- an Australian chap who started an editing company because of his own poor spelling ability.
He does the business part of the typo problem focused solution and hires proof readers to fulfill the actual proof reading for the customers.
But obviously, from what I am seeing on websites and in self published ebooks, there is a need for one more proof reading, editing solution company.
I am in the process of helping my daughter think in such terms. She is a whiz at proof reading but she is lousy at math.
Recently she applied for a position at a local Christian University to work in their alumni office.
They told her she set the record for the proof reading portion of the test they gave her. But unfortunately she thinks she may have set the record for the lowest score on the math portion of the test.
Now writing for the internet is totally different than for novels, writing periodical articles, or writing a master's thesis. So I suggested she go to http://www.change-career-with-purpose.com/writing-for-the-internet.
I suggested she download the free book about writing for the internet that is offered. Why? First of all to help me with my typos. But then to help her understand where I am coming from when I suggest we start an internet based proof reading service.

16-11-2006 - Internet Income Strategy Explained
Google AdSense is a income producer for small content publishers like me.
Google is committed to helping the "little person" who produces high quality website content, which in turn helps the Net overall. When I learned that every small business person can earn income and actually monetize his/her passion, expertise or knowledge, I decided that was a way for me to expand my ministry while getting paid for doing so.
If you too want to publish theme-based information and earn zero-customer-maintenance infopreneurial income check out http://www.change-career-with-purpose.com/adsense-google-secret.
There are those who feel having adverising on a ministry focused website cheapens the ministry's message. I think of it as "passing the plates" or receiving an offering. In fact, I believe churches should do more to help their people earn money, rather than just ask for more money. One of my goals is to help churches develop entrepreneurs but that will be a later topic for blogging.
I recently purchased a new desktop replacement computer with one of my Google Adsense checks. Usually I earn enough from my ministry focused websites to pay for all my internet and computer costs each month.
I would like to be more efficient and recently started using Adsense Detective. There is a monthly fee, but I figure that if I can learn to be more productive in my adsense income strategy, the amount earned from better productivity will more than pay the $10 monthly fee. So check out Adsense Detective at http://www.change-career-with-purpose.com/complete-adsense-tracking-tool.
I agree with Dr. Ken Evoy, who states "No matter what your primary business (or ministry) strategy may be, Google AdSense adds one more practical, positive, and highly credible monetization option for your theme-based content site".

19-11-2006 - I Purchased A New Desktop Replacement Computer
It is not everyday that your wife says: "I think you ought to buy a new computer."
Not that she was without her own motives for giving me this "buy a computer" ultimatum. For some reason, she thinks that if I had another computer, she would have a chance on getting on our 3 year old, self-built computer. You would think that she was saying I spend a lot of time on the computer.
So back to the computer selection drawing board. I really did want a laptop but thought the cost would be just too much. Funny how that cost thing gets in our way. The truth is my being on the computer generated $700 last month. I guess you could say that I am using the get rich slow method in my internet home business efforts.
So we took off to check out prices at some local stores:
- First stop was Office Depot, but you didn't think I would buy at the first place, do you?
- Next was Staples. There was a total choice of 4 or 5 computers, so let's keep going.
- Within the same complex was CompUSA. I was pleasantly surprised to not get mugged by over eager sales people.
We discovered quite a wide selection of laptops and notebooks, whatever the class is, at our local CompUSA store.
Without pressure, a computer sales consultant asked me to define what I wanted in a computer.
I described the qualities I was looking for and gave several brand names, HP (Hewlett Packard), Compaq, and was shown a few pretty nice computers.
But then the CompUSA computer salesman did something unheard of on my previous CompUSA visits -- he downsold. He showed me a desktop replacement computer that had exactly what I had outlined in my notebook computer wish list, but at half the price!
Well, it is time to hit the road for church services, so I will make this a "to be continued story" and write more later.
Chaplain Paul L. Slater

23-11-2006 - How To Give The Gift Of Scripture At This Holiday Season
Greetings On This Thanksgiving Holiday. What a joyful time our families had this past week. I guess we take family for granted when it comes to appreciating our heritage. My wife's father's family gathered for a Family Reunion this week at Hume Lake Christian Conference Center. How grateful we are for the spiritual choices made by our ancestors in previous generations. We committed ourselves to make a difference in our world for Good and for God. This website is my attempt to impact the world with God's love.
On the way home, we had our Thanksgiving Feast with my wife's mother's family. They too are "world changer's" who are committed to sharing the message of Christ with those in their part of the world -- Bakersfield, California.
When we returned home, I found this advertisement in my many emails that accumulated through the week. (My wife convinced me that taking my new notebook computer would take impair my limited relational skills so my Acer Aspire Desktop Replacement computer had to get along without me for several days.)
If you would like to impact your world with the message of God's love during this holiday season, consider sending: Scripture Greeting Cards for Adults and Children - Contemporary/Traditional.
While shopping for Christmas gifts, you may want to give away to those in your sphere of influence the gift of God's Word. Scripture gifts can be a great way to share the gift of a changed life with those you care for.

25-11-2006 - Writing to communicate on the internet
Writing is something I never saw myself doing in the way I am doing it at this time of my life and career.
I have even considered writing a book on How to Become An Outstanding Writier. But first I intend to write some how to books on chaplaincy and career change for pastors.
What was it that prompted my writing activities? Launching my website launched my writing. While not specifically a book focusing on ministry or career change, the book that prompted my writing career is a how to book on writing for the internet. In fact, it is now a free book so feel free to download it.
Basically, the message in this unique book about websites, home based business startups, and selling on the internet has a lot to say to us who are in ministry. I believe the principles for an effective website are the principles for effective evangelism.

25-11-2006 - Now An Expert On How To Become A Chaplain
I am always surprised when I find other chaplain focused websites listing my Change Career With Purpose as a chaplain career resource.
I was doing a Google keyword search and had entered change-career-with-purpose.com in the Google search box on my web browser. I was trying to go to my site to copy some material into an article I was writing promoting exciting chaplain career possibilities that exist in our world.
When I laughed out loud my wife asked what I had found that was funny. I said "Come look at this website so you can laugh too". There on the Andrews University Seminary website was the following information:
Chaplaincy Professional Publications
Some useful professional publications about chaplaincy are:
- The Journal of Pastoral Care (www.jpcp.org)
- Change-Career-With-Purpose (www.change-career-with-purpose.com)
-- Select the Chaplain career info tab
- The Adventist Chaplain (www.adventistchaplains.org/newsletters.htm)
- Plain Views (www.plainviews.org)
-- This is an e-Newsletter connecting chaplains and spiritual care providers
I was amazed at several other websites linking to my site as a valuable career change resource and remembered what Dr. Key Evoy, CEO of Sitesell, had said in one of his books. He said that if we just continue to write content for our websites, we would soon be considered experts in our field. See http://www.change-career-with-purpose.com/world-changing-websites.

30-11-2006 - Mile of Cars Means Lots of Auto Industry Job Opportunities
The signs declared "Welcome To The Mile of Cars" no matter how you entered that area of National City in San Diego area.
When I was car shopping a few years ago, I felt like this area was too far to drive to buy a car. Now it is the very area I drive through in my role as a hospice chaplain.
Now, if I were in the market for a car again, I would certainly head to the Mile of Cars. If I were considering a career change, I would explore careers in the automotive field.
- Ball Honda - Acura - Mitsubishi - Suzuki
- Ball Renegade
- Ron Baker Chevrolet
- San Diego Dodge
- Perry Ford
- Frank Hyundai
- Frank Toyota - Scion
- Jack Harrison Buick - Pontiac - GMC
- McCune Chrysler - Jeep
- Mossy Nissan
- Saturn of National City
- South Bay Volkswagen
- South County Volvo
- Westcott Mazda - Kia
Yes, if I were in the market for a car again, I would head to the Mile of Cars because I realize it is a lot closer than I once thought.
But what if you were looking for a career in the auto industry. If I were considering a career change, I would explore careers in the automotive field. There must be literally hundreds of jobs in that one mile of car dealerships.
