PhD Degree Question - Educational Requirements

by Kathryn
(Crystal River, FL)

PhD Degree Qualification Question

I have a PhD in Clinical Counseling, and am credentialed to supervise. I have worked as a Pastoral Counselor for 7 years and a clinical supervisor for 11 years.

Chaplain Education Supervisor Interest

Would any of my previous education or experience contribute to Chaplain Education Supervisor certification?

PhD Degree Commendable

While having a PhD is commendable, I believe you will still need Clinical Pastoral Education, going on to further training on the CPE Supervisor Track.

PhD Degree and Chaplain Supervisor Education
by: Chaplain Paul Slater

PhD Degree and Supervisory Chaplain Certification

Of course, having a doctorate degree is not a requirement for supervisory CPE (supervisory clinical pastoral education).

Take a look at the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education website or to find specific Chaplain Training Centers, you might do a Google search for supervisory clinical pastoral education.

Another Chaplain Career Option -- Become An Internet Chaplain

By the way, I know of one chaplain career option that does not require extensive chaplaincy training. Become an internet chaplain.

I have discovered that this website and others I have developed fulfill the concept of chaplaincy, offering spiritual care to those in need of spiritual care, doing so outside a local church setting.

Chaplains have unique knowledge to share that offers healing and hope to those in need. Here is how I see an internet based chaplaincy website developing into Internet Chaplaincy.
